London to Portland vessel Registration

Vessel entry forms for boats attending the London to Portland Small Ships Race need to be returned to ASTO as soon as possible. Closing date for vessel registration now 17 February 2012.

 
3rd annual UK Sail Training Conference 2012

The 3rd annual UK Sail Training Conference, sponsored by Topsail Insurance and Southampton Solent University, took place on Friday 27th January 2012. More than 100 delegates from 23 UK Sail Training Organisations, as well as representatives from the MCA, Trinity House, Sail Training International and The Green Blue took part in a day filled with informative sessions on vessel safety, company operations, child safeguarding and internet marketing. The various presentations, photographs and follow-on actions from the conference will be available on this website in the next few days. 

 
ASTO vessels taking part in Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant

Congratulations to those ASTO members whose vessels have been invited to take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on Sunday 3 June. They include "Gipsy Moth IV", Jubilee Sailing Trust's Tall Ship "Tenacious", The Marine Society and Sea Cadets' vessel "TS Royalist", Pioneer Sailing Trust's vessel "Pioneer" and Trinity Sailing Trust's vessel "Provident".

 
Jubilee Sailing Trust to sail around the Globe

Jubilee Sailing Trust Charts its first voyage around the Globe with a little help from Thomas Gunn.

Thomas Gunn Navigations Services has donated a complete set of world routing charts to enable the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) to voyage around the globe for the first time, creating an unprecedented opportunity for physically disabled people to explore the world from the decks of a square-rigged sailing ship.
