Life changing adventures

"I went home with some great memories. I loved the starry nights out on the sea and having hot chocolate while playing cards on deck. I can now watch Pirates of the Caribbean and brag to my friends that I went on a beautiful old boat".   Molly from Rutland

STYC - An International Front | Print |

‘Young People’ are right at the heart of Sail Training International’s purpose; yet young people have played almost no direct role in the organisation. However STI set up an ‘International Youth Forum’ with the purpose to:

  • Ensure the decision making entities and processes in Sail Training International take account of the views and interests of young people in developing strategies and activities for the future, and

  • Enhance the credibility of our organisation and our focus on young people with external organisations and authorities important to us.

STYC play an active role in the International Youth Forum, with the current STYC Chairman representing the UK and sitting alongside 14 other founding members on the International Youth Forum.

The International Youth Forums inaugural meeting was held at the STI annual conference in Istanbul, where STYC was out in force to represent and promote the wants and needs of young people wanting to take part in Sail Training in the UK.
